HOW TO ADD AN ACCENT COLOUR INTO YOUR GOLF WARDROBE
We challenged Carolyn from our Marketing team to find 5 ways to style an accent colour, inspired by the Pink Lemonade collection from FootJoy...
Well this is the final instalment of my "styling and Accent Colour" challenge. It's been lots of fun! I have been taking inspiration from the FootJoy Pink Lemonade collection with the aim of showing you some of the many ways you can incorporate accent colours such as pink into your wardrobe.
So if you're a fan of the colour here's some new inspo for your golf wear, and if it's not normally the colour for you, pop any preconceptions aside and take a fresh look... Perhaps it will help you find ways to style your own favourite colour!
THE CLUB COLOUR COMBO AND EMBRACING BRIGHT LEGWEAR
4. Navy and pink
It's a mainstay of most golfer's wardrobes and so this was the most logical go-to for combining with a burst of colour. You'll be able to add so many colours and prints to navy, enabling you to get the most out of core items of clothing.
There are multiple ways to do this with varying proportions of pink to navy but I went for a classic 50/50 split. To add some interest I opted for a polo with a subtle striped finish. From a distance this comes across as a plain pink polo but closer up you can see the subtly textured stripe. I am a particular fan of the concealed button finish to the placket for a crisp finish. To complete the outfit I added a soft hooded jacket (with really sweet pink zip pull) and navy and white animal print visor. The subtle stripe in the polo didn't clash at all with the animal print and it means I have two items with "interest" which I can combine with other plain pieces in my existing wardrobe. The visor is supremely comfortable I may add and I'm a fan of the particular curve of the brim, which does vary across visors and brands. There are so many variations I could have applied to this look such as a pink hoodie in place of navy, a plain or pink visor - even carrying the colour through with my golf shoes. And don't be afraid to work with prints and textures so it's not just a solid colour combo.
5. The Colourful Leg Wear Look
I simply had to give this look a go as the pink in these ankle trousers is really fun and the fabric superbly lightweight for summer. I wasn't disappointed! I teamed them with a printed golf top and navy gilet from my wardrobe, both from Original Penguin. The print top with pink legwear concept worked brilliantly and this is definitely a fun way of brightening up your summer trousers if you like to keep covered up but want to branch out from navy or black, and are not sold on white. As I mentally revisit my wardrobe at home, I realise I have so many tops and layers to sleeveless polos that I could combine with colourful trousers, I could happily create multiple looks all season long!
Final thoughts and a little something for those who love bold and bright.
Ok, so pink has won a place in my wardrobe, but for you perhaps you've envisaged new ways to add in your favourite hue, be it on-trend coral tones or fresh greens or aquas.
For me personally the Pink Lemonade tone suited me particularly well and when it comes to many accent colours we will all have a different shade that suits us best, but that's what I love about adding colour to clothing - there are so many options from the lightest softest shades to bold bursts of bright.
And a final word on pink specifically! If you really love pink but not the bad rep it sometimes gets and are not ready to go full "Paula Creamer" style!, why not try combining it with more brights for a fun, modern zing? Check out the Dani Dazey or botanical print from Puma Golf collection or Callaway's incorporation of pink this season?
Here's to you all find your own take on adding an accent colour this summer!
